HMMM . . . WEIRD ANIMALS??! What an interesting VBS theme. Want to know more about it?
In coming up with this year’s VBS theme, Group Publishing did their research by meeting with hundreds of VBS directors, volunteers, leaders and children’s pastors.
They asked, “What do the kids in your community need most?” The answer Group received was, “Kids need to know they’re loved unconditionally.” In today’s world, kids, families and relationships are broken. Kids feel like they constantly have to measure up -- in sports, music, school . . . . Kids think that they’re not good enough. Kids are facing stress, pressure and bullying at younger and younger ages.
The second question Group Publishing asked was “What theme is the most kid-friendly?/What will your kids rave about?”
So. . . Group Publishing took the answers they received and combined Jesus’ unconditional love with a setting that’s bursting with the weirdest animals anyone’s ever seen for a VBS theme.
And you know what? The combination makes sense!
As Group’s VBS Senior Editor, Jody Brolsma says, ”Jesus showed unconditional love to lepers, outcasts and criminals - people who may have been considered weird. And some of the things Jesus did may have seemed weird to the people around him. Talking to a Samaritan woman? Unheard of. Taking a servant’s job and washing feet? Ugh, really? The Bible brims with accounts of Jesus demonstrating unconditional love in unexpected (and maybe even weird) ways.”
And the combination works! Here’s the reaction of a couple of the kids who were part of the field test of Weird Animals last summer.
So there you have it! The inside scoop about this year’s VBS theme. Hope your family joins us for WEIRD ANIMALS!!!!
Are you a 4th or 5th grader? Then, you're invited to attend Trinity's Sprouts group.
What's Sprouts about? It's a small group experience designed especially for 4th and 5th grade students to support them in their daily lives AND to prepare them for Student Ministry activities that begin in 6th grade.
Sprouts will resume with its spring session on Thursday, March 20th for a 4 week Lenten study. The Lenten study is called, "Being Hope," and focuses on what mission is, why it's important for us to be involved in mission work and how Sprouts (& their families) can get involved in mission work.
We will end our spring session by attending the Seder Dinner at Trinity on Wednesday, April 16th at 6:30 pm in Starr Hall. All Sprouts families are invited.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS...the annual Sprouts’ Lock-In is scheduled for Friday, May 2nd (7 pm) to Saturday, May 3rd (8 am) at Trinity House.

What if one of God's primary intentions for you as a parent isn't about successfully raising perfect chldren, but about you becoming more holy? Sacred Parenting helps you look at parenting from a different perspective. With the help of a video featuring author Gary Thomas, we'll explore a roadmap of spiritual growth through the children that God has given us to parent. Sacred Parenting will help you learn how God can transform dirty diapers, a toddler's tantrums, and a teenager's silence, in order to transform you into a person who reflects the image of Christ.
