Congratulations to Pastor Jisun and Ginny
The United Methodist Church has very high standards for a person to become a member of the clergy. Extensive education, evaluation and supervision are a part of that journey. We’re pleased that two members of our clergy team have taken significant steps in this regard.
Associate Pastor Rev. Jisun Nam was recently commissioned as a provisional candidate for ordained ministry by the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of the UMC. She now begins her final two years of supervision, after which she’ll be ordained as an Elder in the UMC.
Ginny Thorp has recently completed the requirements for and been affirmed as a Certified Lay Minister in the UMC. The Certified Lay Minister, while not a formal member of the clergy, is able to lead worship, care for the congregation, assist in program leadership, lead small groups and do other pastoral work. Such persons may serve on a clergy team, which Ginny does at Trinity.
We congratulate Jisun and Ginny and thank God for his call to local church service which he has placed on their lives.
