It’s that time of year again! It’s time for VBS registration!
This year, VBS is scheduled to take place July 18-22, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and is open to children who will be four before October 1, 2016 (and who are potty trained) through those who will be entering grade 5 in the fall. There is a $20.00 registration fee per child, with a maximum fee of $40.00 per family. If needed, a limited number of scholarships are available. To register online click here
The attached registration and photo release form can be returned with payment to your child’s church school teacher, to the church office or to the VBS registration table located in Starr Hall. If you are paying in person in Starr Hall or the church office, we will have our portable pay unit available so you can use your credit card.
Our VBS theme this year is Group’s “Cave Quest: Following Jesus, the Light of the World.” During our exciting, action-packed week together, the children, through daily sessions of worship, Deep Bible Quests, music, craft activities, mission projects, science projects, recreation, Kid Vids and snack time, will learn that —
- Jesus gives us hope.
- Jesus gives us courage.
- Jesus gives us direction.
- Jesus gives us love.
- Jesus gives us his power.
We have once again tailored a program specifically to meet the needs of our PreK children. They will meet jointly with the older children during our opening worship, then proceed to the lower level of the main building where they will enjoy all of the activities but geared for their age-level. They will also join the older children for the daily closing worship.
We’d like to invite all parents to attend the closing worship that is scheduled to take place daily in the sanctuary at 11:40 a.m. in order to catch a glimpse of what your child has learned that day!
Please be sure to register your child early since we must end registration on Wednesday, July 6. We will not be able to accept registrations at the door on Monday, July 18.
For the first day of VBS, please try to arrive earlier than the 9:00am start time. Our first morning will run smoother and more on time if you plan to check in before 9:00am. That way, you’ll have additional time to assist your child in getting settled with their crew.
Each day, please enter the church through the double glass doors on the side of the building. Crew lists and a map of the sanctuary will be located in the foyer to assist you in locating your child’s crew. Please bring your children into the sanctuary and check them in with their crew leader. At that time, please also advise your child’s crew leader who is authorized to pick up your child at the end of the day. Our ushers will also be able to assist you and answer any questions that you may have. Each morning of VBS we ask that you take your child to meet her crew at their designated area of the sanctuary.
Please send a snack in a labeled, brown paper bag or disposable container with your child each day. We will provide drinks
All VBS participants will be dismissed from the Main Church building. The PreK children will be dismissed from the classrooms on the lower level. When your child is dropped off the first day you will be supplied with a map indicating where your preschool child will be dismissed from. The elementary children will be dismissed from the Sanctuary. In order to expedite this process, please note that you must inform your child’s crew leader who you have authorized to pick-up your child. With everyone’s cooperation, we can not only expedite the dismissal process, but more importantly, we can ensure that all children leave safely with either their parent or an authorized guardian.
Please dress your child in play clothes and sneakers since everything is hands-on at Cave Quest. We will be making art projects, playing outside and participating in other games and activities. Songs learned during the week will be sung by the children for the congregation at the 9:15 a.m. worship service on Sunday, July 24th. Please mark your calendar now so that you and your children can join us. All are welcome.
As in past years, we need your help with a few VBS details.
AGAIN THIS YEAR!
Included in your registration fee is your child’s 2016 VBS t-shirt with the Cave Quest imprint (designed by high school student and Trinity member, Thomas Smith). Be sure to indicate your child’s t-shirt size on the registration form! On Wednesday of VBS week, VBS participants will be personalizing their shirts in their craft sessions. Completed Cave Quest VBS t-shirts will be sent home with the children on Thursday. We would like to encourage all children to wear their Cave Quest VBS t-shirts on Friday.
For students entering the 5th grade in the fall, we have a special VBS Leader-in-Training class for YOU! We know that the last year of VBS (before you can be a volunteer) is a little tough. You’re not one of the younger kids and you’re not one of the older kids. While you will still be participating in all of the VBS activities, you will also be learning skills that you can use when you become a volunteer next summer. In addition, your VBS shirt will be gray (not white) to reflect the fact that you are a Cave Quest “Guide” — a VBS Leader-in-Training. Your class will be under the leadership of Laura Iacampo who wants to invite all “Climbers” to a special lunch on Thursday, July 21st in Starr Hall from 12:15 p.m. -1:30 p.m. More details about the lunch to come.
As part of this year’s curriculum, we encourage the children to wear the “Color of the Day.” For your information, the colors are listed below.
Finally, an important part of Vacation Bible School is our daily mission time. We are asking for donations of the items listed on the attached mission flyer.
We had so much fun last year, we’re doing it again!
The VBS COMMUNITY FUN FAIR is Wednesday, July 20th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Trinity House !
We’re planning on a FREE cook-out dinner for everyone along with some Cave Quest fun. So, mark your calendar and plan on coming to VBS Community Fun Fair at Trinity. Since we are still fine tuning the details for the evening, look for more info on the Daily Take Home Sheets. This is truly an event your family will not want to miss. All are invited. Please note that children MUST be accompanied by an adult.
Finally, if you are interested in helping with VBS, we have room for more volunteers. We will offer volunteer orientation and training, as well as fellowship opportunities. If you think you’d like to join our VBS team, please contact the church office. We are looking forward to an exciting, fun-filled week, and hope that your child (and you) can join us. If you have any questions, please contact the church office at 852-3020.
