Dear Trinity family,
One of the unfortunate images that many people have about Christians is that they are usually gloomy, frowning and overly serious people. And while the matters of faith are indeed serious and deep, Christians can and should laugh together. The Bible says that “the joy of the Lord is my strength” and another has written that joy is the indelible mark of the Christians.
So this weekend at Trinity we’ll again celebrate Holy Hilarity in worship. This is actually an ancient church tradition on the first Sunday after Easter, celebrating the fact that with the empty tomb God played a joke on the devil and that God had the last laugh with the resurrected Christ.
So our services this weekend will be fun. I hope you’ll come just to laugh together with friends in Christ as we worship the God who created laughter.
SATURDAY NIGHT WORSHIP AT 5:00 – Pastor Deb De Vos leads – with a big smile.
8:15 CHAPEL – Pastor Don Gebhard leads what he is calling “Our Fun Time of Worship.”
9:15 AND 10:45 – SANCTUARY WORSHIP – I’ve invited a special guest to be with us – who will help us laugh as we worship. The Americana Troupe will offer upbeat toe tapping music.
-All worshipers will receive a picture of a smiling Jesus called The Risen Christ by the Sea.
-You can sign up for the ASP dinner, the Ladies Tea, as well as order your Trinity name badge.
And if you’d like to join in the fun even more feel free to wear your silly hat or red nose or anything you can come up with. You won’t be alone! See you in happy worship!
