Trinity Goes To the Movies

Summer Realities – Aug. 5th and 6th

Many of us are either now recalling recent times away or planning for them in the next few weeks. And others have had or soon will have special days at the shore, or an amusement park, or other relaxation. Summer is fun, as some of my family and I experienced last week with the visit of 2 adult children and 5 grandchildren.

Yet vacations and summer fun are far from the minds of many Americans who can’t afford to take time off work, or to pay for any sort of vacation. While 60% of Americans take a summer vacation and spend an average of $1850 on it, that means that 40 percent do not, and many of those cannot, because of financial instability.

This weekend we explore our faith and its intersection with the many people around us who are struggling through the lens of the sermon series Trinity at the Movies. We’ll explore McFarland USA, a fine movie starring Kevin Costner, with important themes that interface with our scripture lesson. That lesson is 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22.

Other details of our weekend worship services include:

SATURDAY AT 5:00 IN TRINITY HOUSE – The Meanz of Grace praise band will provide music and Pastor Jenny will offer the sermon. We will share in Holy Communion.

8:15 CHAPEL WORSHIP – Pastor Jenny will lead this worship service and Holy Communion will be served.

9:15 SANCTUARY WORSHIP – Music will be shared by the Meanz of Grace praise band and we’ll have a special musical offering from our Trinity Ringer senior handbell quartet. I’ll share the sermon.

10:45 TRADITIONAL SANCTUARY WORSHIP – Our Trinity Ringer quartet will again provide music for worship, and I’ll share the message. We’ll welcome new members and also acknowledge a very unusual birthday in our congregation.

I hope you will make time this weekend to gather with your church family for one of our worship services. It’s a great way to spend some of your time by thanking God for ALL of your time.
