Summer Small Groups
The following small groups are continuing through the summer and all are welcome.
Our garden is in the back of the church property, near the brook. Through the summer, plants will continue to ripen and be ready for harvesting and donating to the Lord’s Pantry to share with those in need in our community. Come join, learn, grow together as you help bountiful food grow. We need waterers, weeders, composters, harvesters, and more. Call the office or email Pastor Deb to sign up at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Each Thursday morning at 11 a.m., we meet via ZOOM for Centering Prayer - a type of silent prayer where we learn to experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking. You’re welcome to join anytime and to come whenever you can. Call the office or email Fran Blaskopf to sign up at email@example.com.
Each Thursday at 12 noon via ZOOM, we gather to do our craft (knit, crochet, scrapbook, embroider, needlepoint, or any other craft). We open with scripture and a time of reflection. Then we eat, fellowship, and work on whatever craft project we have. Call the office or email Pastor Deb to sign up at firstname.lastname@example.org.
God’s Word Blesses Us
We meet every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. via ZOOM. We practice Lectio Divina, which means “divine reading”. Join us each week as we use the scripture that will be preached on the upcoming weekend. As you begin to explore the passage early in the week, it will take root and allow you to encounter God, blessing and enriching your life. Call the office or email Pastor Deb to sign up at email@example.com.
Fall 2021 small group planning is in the works. Look for the Small Group booklet in August. The groups will be in-person or a hybrid (in-person and ZOOM). Many of our ongoing groups will be returning. Some of the exciting new offerings are:
Personal Transformation through the Gospel of Mark
Mark’s story is our story as well. Following the Way (of death and resurrection, dying and rising, endings and beginnings) is a metaphor of personal transformation, of the psychological-spiritual process at the center of the Christian life. The Way is the path that leads us through our “old” ego-centered self, to a rebirth/resurrection of our “new” God-centered self. And remember, we’re always “on the way” and “in-process”!
An opportunity to:
- Catch a vision for grandparenting.
- Find out what scripture says about grandparenting.
- Discuss the barriers, challenges, and opportunities of grandparenting.
- Share ideas about “how to” grandparents.
- Find out how to include The Blessing for grandchildren as you grandparent them.
Justice or Just Us?
Justice or Just Us? explores what it means to be a faith community that’s committed to anti-racist and justice-seeking work. This is a four-week study leading us to confront racism.
A study in which we look at statements like “God helps those who help themselves” and other things that the Bible doesn’t say.
