UMM Matters by Bill Blaskopf

June 8th, our Boy Scout Troop #416 attended and presented the Honor Guard. There were no new Eagle Scouts to recognize this year, but three boys are currently working towards their Eagle Scout Award. The boys also demonstrated the proper handling of the U.S. flag and how to retire a flag correctly. The UMM will be setting up a collection box for old U.S. flags and will be bringing them over to the American Legion for proper disposal. We had our annual election of officers and Bill Blaskopf, Glenn Ashton and Norm Barrier will continue as officers. If you’re interested in being part of the Executive Committee for UMM, please contact any of the leaders. The Executive Committee always meets the third Monday evening of the month.

Balls and Strikes III took place as scheduled. A report on these two family-oriented events will be in the September Tidings. September’s Tidings will also have the name(s) of the recipient(s) of our Mathias Torgersen Scholarship monies.

Our September breakfast will be September 14th, the same day as Caravan of Hope II. We’ll have breakfast available for people before they go off to deliver their meals and Joan and Bill Caldwell have arranged for a representative from Truck Stop Ministry to speak. We encourage all to attend before heading out.

We continue to sell Trinity Name Badges. If you haven’t gotten yours, please look for the order forms around the church. We send in an order whenever we get to about 10 badges.

Always remember, UMM is not just for men. We invite all members of Trinity to attend. Among our goals is to provide a sense of community, a meaningful presentation, and a fantastic breakfast.
