The great theologian Karl Barth wrote thousands of words and many books about Jesus. Near the end of his life, he was asked to try to summarize all he had learned. He said “JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW – FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO” That is truly the essence of our faith – Jesus. So this weekend we conclude our sermon series on SOURCES OF HOPE with an important look at how Jesus is our ultimate source of hope. The Bible passage is Colossians 1:24-29. In addition, other details of our 4 worship services this weekend include:
SATURDAY AT 5:00 IN TRINITY HOUSE – Our 10 Simple Rules praise band will share music and Pastor Deb De Vos will share the sermon.
8:15 CHAPEL WORSHIP – I’ll share the message and Deb De Vos will assist in leading worship
9:15 CONTEMPORARY SANCTUARY WORSHIP – Our Youth Praise Band will lead us in music, and I’ll preach the sermon.
10:45 TRADITIONAL SANCTUARY WORSHIP – Music will be shared by the Peace Ringers and Chancel Choir, as well as by two children on the piano – Eva and Alexa Hughes. I’ll share the message.
- In our Sunday services, we’ll hear a brief report from members of our just returned Haiti Mission Team.
- Since it’s the 5th Sunday of the month, in our sanctuary services we’ll observe Children’s Sabbath, as children participate in our worship
- On Sunday morning you can order your hoagies in support of the United Methodist Men’s Torgersen Scholarship Fund. Rev Matt Torgersen served on our staff for several years and the UMM kindly honors his memory by this annual scholarship. You can help by ordering hoagies.
Finally – LOOKING AHEAD ONE WEEK – On Feb 5th we will honor community first responders with a reception at 10:00 am and at the 10:45 worship service. Please give us names of first responders or invite them yourself as we want to say thank you to those who serve us in times of need. I hope you’ll include worshiping God as a part of your weekend.
Blessings and peace,
